The island chapter ends.
The pillory fixed the relative position of the wrist and the neck, and the lock was under the pillory, giving people the feeling that they could not open it even with a key.
It’s actually easier than expected. There are only two tricks:
- Use your knees to support the swinging padlock so that the keyhole faces outward.
- Instead of using your thumb, use your index, middle, and ring fingers to hold the key.
There may be the following reasons for failure. For example, the padlock is at a fixed angle and cannot be turned outward; the hole in the wrist is too small to extend the first knuckle of the finger to the side of the flail.
