Cryogenic by Taszjekt
A twelve part story. Tool, as always, Inkscape + Gimp.
This work was based on some Asian erotic images of two different models. I hope it’s not visible.
This is my imaginary story about how would people travel through the outer space if hibernation was possible. Currently we know - it is not. We can’t unfreeze what was frozen. In fact, currently freezing process is lethal itself because solidifying water tends to cut through cellular walls turning flesh into a mess.
But if it would be possible then… By economic reasons it seems to be the best to pack a frozen passenger into some kind of low cost container and blast it right where it needs to go. A proper “catcher” station at destination or at mid-points would collect passengers and pass them to unfreezing machinery. or send in farther way.
Since an outer space is a very cold place (few kelwins usually) there is no need for any kind of freezing machine to be attached to a container.
On the other hand there is no reasonable way to shield from a radiation or micro-meteorites anyway, so the risk to travel without any shield is the same as if with a shield.
And if one gets lost, as our non-living luggage often do, there is no problem at all. We have an eternity to find one, and one won’t get even a minute older.
Well….
At first glance it looks exactly as reasonable as an idea to make airplane passengers to travel in straitjackets. But if you look from ‘safety first’ point of view and ‘anyone can be a terrorist’ - I do expect straitjackets to become an obligatory clothing during airplane travels within a few years.
