Archeology by RubberMatt

So I said I would be showing behind the scenes stuff and storylines that I had abandoned ….
Just one of my attempts at archeology gone wrong, as usual starts with a beautiful girl unaware of the peril she is to encounter …… and as usual I write myself into a corner by trying to keep it in contemporary times

While her colleagues frantically try to map out the tunnels she discovered, the hapless blonde follows the singing only she can hear down a tunnel that wasn’t there five minutes ago ….

The source of the singing?

When onyx statues come alive and seduce your clothes off …..

Discovering that the ancient living artifact is hollow and that you’re the new filling …

Sealed & plugged for life, pretty blonde joins her ancestors from the royal family of this long lost ruined city, another ‘Queen’ sacrificed to the artifact in exchange for it’s power and protection

Another member of the expedition finds the previously hidden passage whilst searching for the missing woman, overcome by the singing in her mind, the scent of rubber and powerful pheromones she drops her torch and stumbles toward the glossy sable vision of perfection …..

Another one seduced out of their clothes …..

And this is where I realised that I’d written myself into a corner. One by one the expedition would be taken over and then …. they would be stuck in a ruined city buried beneath a harsh desert in southern africa, with only the supplies they had brought with them.

Surrounded on all sides by potentially hostile nations and unable to travel out of africa due to the current political climate …. there’s no way they’d get past the TSA for a start.

Movies like The Mummy (the good one with Brendan Frasier) work because they’re set in the past, when the world wasn’t such an ugly place and there really were blank spaces on the maps. But no I had to be an idiot and try to put it in a contemporary setting.

Moving the story from Africa to South America still had the same ending problem, along with the additional hazard of the rain forest being an extremely hostile environment in it’s own right.

Third attempt sputtered out but that was due to me not being happy with the way I’d done things. Recently reworked the story & started re-rendering and I am much happier with the way it looks, once I’ve finished a couple more pics I’ll start posting it here ….
