Eudeamon by Evil Dolly

Eudeamon is probably one of the most legendary rubber fetish stories ever written. This story basically started the entire bane fetish category, or at least made it really popular.

The 205-page-long story tells the story of the journalist Katrina and her interest in a special penal system from the city Eudemonia. These so-called “Banes” were apparently criminals who were encased in some unbreakable material, which would completely cut them off from the outside world. They would then be released into the city, as with their restraints, they would have no chance to harm anyone, and basically carry their prison with them at all times.

Katrina becomes genuinely interested in the system and after managing to meet one of the banes and holding somewhat of a conversation with it, she cannot stop thinking about them and decides to take some drastic measures to find out the secret behind the mysterious black encased beings…

Interesting elements and discussions - Spoilers Ahead!

My favourite part of the entire story isn’t even the rubber fetish elements with the bane encasement, although it is absolutely superb, rather the concept of these personal half-merged AI versions of yourself stir up some really philosophical questions in me. The world is what our brain perceives of it, and having the ability to completely influence that, opens up the wildest of possibilities.

In the first third of the story, the occasional mention of Eudeamon and the mystery of what it actually is keeps one quite a bit on edge. Also, the meeting with Barbara after Katrina becomes a bane makes the entire thing more and more mysterious. These unwritten rules of this banishment also get quite interesting on how banes keep their territory or how newcomers are treated. The way the story brings up small topics, like what system is used to easily go around without causing any trouble with other banes, really shows how much the author has thought about this.

When Winter slowly makes herself noticeable, it’s also quite interesting on how Katrina has troubles with her existence. Katrina thinks she’s going crazy and rejects everything about her companion, which makes the later experiences between the two even more perfect. The phases where Winter puts Katrina into some summer scenario, with Katrina feeling absolutely nothing of the real world, really shows what this can enable. It’s basically the most advanced version of full-dive virtual reality (for those who are familiar with it) or just plain a personalized Matrix. This, of course, might sound like a horror scenario for some people, but for me, it sounds like the absolute best situation one could be in. If you have control over what you perceive and feel, you can make your wildest fantasies appear like complete reality.

Another very beautiful thing for me in this story is the intimacy and relationship between Katrina and Winter. Quite a few times, I thought about what it would be like to be so strongly connected with someone that the two of you know everything about each other at all times. Thoughts, feelings, emotions, basically everything shared between the two people / minds. I think this would be something really, really beautiful. I encountered such scenarios in some vampire fictions between two mates, and I always thought how wonderful it would be for such two people. The fact that Katrina and Winter are so deeply in love with each other and that Winter can basically make any of Katrina’s wishes become reality, takes the entire thing to a whole new level.

The first time I read Eudeamon I was quite surprised by this element and never thought I’d read something this wonderful, emotional and beautiful in a fetish story. But after finishing it now for the third time, I think this story really is quite something different and deserves to be treated as such. I did quite a bit more for this work than for anything else, as I really want to highlight the importance and my appreciation of this story, and it’s author, Evil-Dolly. Should you read this post here, thank you very much for this wonderful piece of art that has inspired so many others to create their own.

Artworks (Spoilers)

RubberMatt

Rubbermatt is probably one of the more well-known artists working with banes. Many of his works depict these banes in different sitations and sometimes in a bit different setup than the version described here in Eudeamon. Here are just some of his bane artworks, but definetely check out a list of related artworks.

Katrina’s first contact with a Bane

“Katrina Nichols followed the solitary Bane through the darkened park. It was raining steadily and Katrina was soaked through despite her raincoat. […]

  • Hello? - Katrina ventured.

Instantly, the Bane sprang to her feet. She stood crouched over in alarm, apparently ready to run at a moment’s notice.

  • Wait! - Katrina cried hastily. - Don’t run, please don’t run. I won’t hurt you, I promise. I just want to talk to you”.[…]

She was entirely coated with high-gloss black latex from head to toe. The suit left nothing to the imagination while simultaneously revealing nothing. It was more than merely skin-tight; there were no seams, zippers, or openings of any kind. […] It appeared to be more like a second skin than an outfit […] She also wore a latex-coated helmet of some kind that was completely featureless - her head was encased in an ovoid shell […] It was though her face had been erased. […]

Katrina knew the Bane could see out, somehow, but the invisible eyepieces blended in perfectly with the rest of the helmet. Altogether, she looked less like a human being and more like a faceless, rubber-coated doll. That impression was further enhanced by the Bane’s breathakingly perfect figure, a figure for which Katrina felt some envy."

To the conquer of the island

A new sunset would come soon and Katrina was tired of running every night, looking for a safe place and not to spend a night in peace. She had to face and get her place once and for all … In front of her was the small island in the park. She stepped forward into the water …

Katrina Winter

When Katrina finally met Winter, she understood her life had changed forever. Now they could go wherever imagination could reach, impossible fantastic worlds were possible now, feelings that never could imagine before. Even her body changed, molded by the latex, taking a shape that she envied some time ago. Katrina finally met happiness.
